Another
amazing day. Blue skies predominated and the pistes were smooth. Doga, Faris
and Elian were carrying injuries so they missed the days skiing and instead
frequented a number of mountain cafes. The rest made great progress with their
skiing while Omar Captan had a private snowboard lesson. Mr. Miles spent time
with Callum’s group of Martina, Sina, Hala, Carina and Susie. They had
progressed to some of the steeper red slopes and were developing their parallel
turns. Only one member of the group has managed to stay on her feet all day. We
will give you a clue. Her name begins with an ‘S’ and ends in ’usie’! Despite
crashing, stumbling and falling, the girls have loved every single minute of
their adventure today.
Vian,
Sara, Fay, Omar Al., Muneeb, Adam, Andy and of course, the youngest member of
the group, celebrating her birthday, Mrs Annoni, have made huge progress. Today
they were found skiing down the main slopes of the resort, some of them very
steep, but with great skill and confidence thanks to the expertise of Jack
their instructor.
Iola’s
group of Krish, Karishma, Nadine, Federica, Sara Al., Tara and Miss Humza also
have made terrific progress. They started the day on the easier blue slopes but
ended the day flowing gracefully down the main red slopes. At one point Mr.
Miles was filming them when Karishma slipped and fell into Nadine. Mr. Miles
was so focussed on filming the incident that he accidentally ran into Krish who
ended up on top of his sister! Luckily it was all slow speed falling so no-one
was hurt.
Simon
ended up having one-to-one tuition all day with Scottish Bill, his instructor.
Simon is now skiing with much more confident parallel turns and despite
struggling on the steepest back slopes yesterday, is now skiing with much more
ability.
Courmayeur
is directly across the valley from Mont Blanc. Today a few of us actually
heard, then saw, an avalanche on that mountain! The day ended with us visiting
a pizza restaurant, about 10 minutes away by coach. The pizza was good but the
french fries were outstanding! After a few games involving magic tricks, we
headed back to the hotel to relax, playing table tennis, watching football on
TV and generally socialising. The last full day of skiing tomorrow followed by
the awards evening – we can’t wait.
