Well, it's official, according to everyone here today has been the best day of the season so far, BISAK has truly lucked out!
An incredibly enjoyable day has been had by all, in fact the last two days have just been out of this world. The perseverance from our pupils on the first day has definitely paid off, already they are starting to go on the lifts, and we are beginning to see the transformation from zero to ski hero (heroine!).
There were some memorable moments yesterday, notably Carina, Simon and Noura arguing on the six-man chairlift the best way to exit - this resulted in none of them taking responsibility for actually lifting the bar and consequentially face planting off the chairlift. In another chairlift related incident, Cindy thought it would be a great idea to check what was in her pockets, not to mention her 130 Euro ski lift pass. She had this in her mouth as she was fiddling in her pockets, and as you've probably guessed, a gust of wind came and the ticket floated off into the snow. Worried by the prospect of having the wash dishes for the rest of the week to pay for a new one, her ski instructor heroically skied off to try to locate the missing golden ticket (which, miraculously, he did). When asking Cindy roughly where she dropped it, she replied 'Well I'm not really sure, I think by the man, or maybe it was the bit on the edge'....
The day ended with a trip to the local ice cream shop in Courmayeur, and a spot of shopping. We spent the evening in the hotel and a game of charades ensued. The groups film renditions were interesting to say the least. Ami's group were given the film 'Transformers' to re-enact, although to the audience it looked more like a scene from Gladiator without a transforming robot in sight. Needless to say, the boys re-enactment of 'The Little Mermaid' was interesting to say the least, of the cast of 5, 3 of them took on the high-brow role of..... Rocks.
Today was going off without a hitch, on one of the sunniest days in the season, when I realised I had forgotten all of the lunch vouchers! So a very humble 2 hours later I returned to the slopes vouchers in hand, just in time for the children to eat! There have been some more spectacular wipeouts today, including one pupil getting their leg entangled in the drag lift and being dragged by their leg up the mountain, their nose filling with copious amounts of snow along the way. Well done Mr. Beck!
All the groups have made excellent progress and we have had nothing but praise from the instructors. We are very proud of our pupils and they are doing BISAK proud with their determination and willpower to succeed.
I am doing my best to get photographs of everyone, but with groups all over the mountain in different locations, this is not an easy task. Please be patient and I will do my best to ensure I get shots of as many pupils as possible.
Disco tonight until ten pm with 3 other schools, excitement levels are through the roof! Until tomorrow...

I am so glad that you have nice weather. And I thought it is Snowboarding and not Sitboarding :)
ReplyDeleteDoing a great job Mr Whitaker. Pics are great and the daily stories are a good laugh. Everyone looks to be having a ball. Blue skies and crisp white snow - what more can they ask for eh! Fantastic.
